Bus travel in Thailand, answered
These are the 75 questions travellers ask us most, answered the way our assistant answers them — booking and paying for intercity bus tickets, refunds and cancellations, boarding at Thai terminals, luggage, and what to do when a trip goes wrong. Busaba answers these live, in your language, around the clock.
Chat with BusabaHow long is my seat held while I pay?
Your seat is held for 10 minutes with most operators, and 15 minutes with Nakhonchaiair, Phantip Travel and Roong Reuang Coach. The exact expiry is shown on your booking card.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes — but the rules depend on whether you've paid yet.
Before payment: Open Manage my trip, find your booking, and tap Cancel booking. The seat is released right away and you owe nothing.
After payment: You can't cancel a paid ticket directly — you need to request a refund instead. Tap Request refund on the Manage page and we'll show you exactly how much you'll get back (some fares charge a small fee) before anything is final.
How do I get a refund? When will I see the money?
If you've paid for a ticket and want a refund, open Manage my trip and tap Request refund. We'll check with the bus operator and show you:
- The ticket price
- Any cancellation fee for that fare (some are fully refundable, some charge a flat fee or a percentage)
- The amount you'll actually receive
Confirm and the refund is processed. The money usually appears in your original payment method within 3–7 business days. We mark the refund as Verified once the bus company has confirmed it on their side.
I can't find my booking — what should I do?
Try these in order:
- Check your booking code — it always starts with `THSBSXR` followed by numbers, like `THSBSXR3807299`. Look at the chat where you booked, or your confirmation email.
- Don't have the code? Go to Manage my trip and use the 'Find by email or phone' form below the booking ID box. Type the email or phone you used at booking — your active trips will show up.
- Still nothing? Send a message in the chat and a Busaba team member can help you look it up.
What time should I be at the bus station?
Look at the Boarding time on your ticket — that's the time you need to be at the gate. It's sometimes a few minutes earlier than the trip's departure time, so the bus can leave on schedule.
Plan to arrive at the station 15–30 minutes before the boarding time, to find your platform and clear any queues. Bring a printed copy of your ticket or have it open on your phone — counter staff will scan the QR code.
How long do I have to pay before my booking expires?
The payment deadline is shown on your booking card.
If you don't pay before that, the seat is released and your booking expires. You'll need to start a new booking — the price and seat may change in the meantime, so it's worth paying promptly.
If your card fails, you can pay cash at any 7-Eleven.
Where do I find my platform / gate number?
If your bus company has assigned a platform, it'll show on your ticket next to Platform (e.g. `56` or `114-117`).
Don't see one? It just means the operator hadn't assigned a platform when you booked. At the station, check the printed boards or ask at the bus company's counter — the company name is on your ticket. Platform numbers can change up to 30 minutes before departure, so it's a good habit to confirm in person when you arrive.
Why does my ticket say 'Carrier' instead of the bus company name?
When a bus company hasn't published their official name in our system, we show Carrier as a placeholder. The booking is still valid — your Book Code and ticket details are correct.
If you want to know the operator before travel, look at the chat where you booked (we usually show the company name there), or check the printed company name at the station counter when you arrive.
I lost my booking code — how do I recover it?
Open Manage my trip and use the 'Find by email or phone' box.
Type the email or the phone number you used when you booked, and we'll show you any active bookings tied to that contact. Tap Open on the one you want — you'll see your full ticket again, including the booking code, trip details, and QR code.
Cancelled and refunded trips are hidden from this view to keep things tidy. If a friend or staff member booked on your behalf, ask them to forward you the booking code instead.
I cancelled my trip — why does it still show as Reserved?
If your booking still shows as Reserved on a screen somewhere right after you cancelled, it's usually a delay between systems. Two things to try:
- Refresh the page. The status usually updates within a few seconds.
- Open the booking on Manage my trip. That refreshes everything from the bus company's side and should show the correct cancelled / refunded status.
If it's been more than a couple of minutes and still wrong, send us a message in the chat with your booking code and we'll fix it.
Will I get a reminder before my bus leaves?
Yes. Once your booking is paid, we'll send you two emails to the address you booked with:
- About 16 hours before departure — a heads-up so you can plan your morning.
- About 2 hours before departure — a final nudge to head to the station.
Each reminder includes your booking code, route, departure time, and platform (if assigned). If you don't see them, check your spam folder — and make sure the email on your booking is correct.
Can I chat in my own language?
Yes — write in any language and Busaba replies in the same language. Our support team works in Thai; the chat translates both ways, so you never need to speak Thai.
How do I see my ticket?
There are three ways to pull up your ticket:
- In the chat — your ticket card appears right after you complete payment. Scroll up in the chat window to find it again.
- Manage my trip (the easiest if you've closed the chat) — tap Manage my trip in the top-right of the page, then either:
- Type your Book Code (`THSBSXR…`) and tap Find booking, or
- Type the email or phone you booked with and tap Find my bookings — your active trips appear, tap Open on the one you want.
- Confirmation email — once paid, we email the e-ticket to the address on your booking. Open it and tap View e-ticket.
Your ticket has everything the station staff need: QR code, Book Code, Ticket No., route, date, boarding time, platform, seat, vehicle type, passenger name, and amount paid. Just show the screen on your phone — printing isn't required, but you can save it as a PDF using the PDF or Print button on the Manage page.
Why is my phone number / email not shown on my ticket?
We deliberately hide your phone number and email on the ticket card to protect you from refund scams. If both your booking code AND contact details appear on one screenshot, a fraudster who spots that image could call Busaba support pretending to be you and request a refund.
Your contact details are still on file — we use them to email your ticket and reminders, and our support team can see them when you reach out through the chat. They're just not printed on the public ticket. It's a small thing that meaningfully reduces fraud risk.
How do I book a bus ticket on Busaba?
Just chat with us. Tell the bot where you're going (e.g. 'Bangkok to Phuket tomorrow, 1 ticket') and we'll search every bus operator on your route, show you the trips with prices and seat counts, and walk you through choosing a seat and entering passenger details.
You can also tap the date chips on the welcome screen to start with a date, then tell the bot the route. Either order works — the bot will ask for whatever's missing.
Can I book a ticket for someone else?
Yes. When the passenger details form appears, fill in the traveller's name, gender, and ID details — not yours. The contact phone and email should be the one you (or the traveller) want reminders sent to.
The traveller's name on the ticket must match the ID they show at the counter, so double-check the spelling before paying. Once the booking is paid, the name can't be changed without a refund + rebook.
Why is the price different from the bus company's website?
Prices on Busaba come straight from the bus operator's live inventory, so they should match. Small differences sometimes appear because:
- Promotions — operators may run direct-website discounts that aren't extended to partners.
- Service fees — some carriers add a small platform fee.
- Different fare class — make sure you're comparing the same seat type (Standard vs VIP vs Sleeper).
If the gap looks unusual, send us the carrier's URL in the chat and we'll investigate.
Do I need to create an account to book?
No account needed. Just chat, pick your trip, enter passenger and contact details, and pay. Your booking is identified by the Book Code (`THSBSXR…`) and tied to the email and phone you provided — you can find it later via Manage my trip.
What payment methods do you accept?
Pay by Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Thai QR (PromptPay), K PLUS, or cash at any 7-Eleven.
My payment failed — what should I do?
First, check that your card has funds and isn't blocked for online or international purchases (some Thai banks need you to enable that manually in your banking app).
Then try again. The payment deadline is shown on your booking card; if it has passed, start a new booking rather than retrying an old page.
If your card fails, you can pay cash at any 7-Eleven. You can also try a different card or PromptPay. Still stuck? Send us a message in the chat with your Book Code and we'll help.
Why was my card declined?
The most common reasons:
- Bank blocked the transaction. Thai banks often block first-time online or international charges — open your banking app and approve, or call the number on the back of the card.
- Wrong CVV / expiry / billing address.
- Insufficient funds on debit cards or prepaid cards.
- 3-D Secure timeout — finish the OTP step within a minute.
Try a different card or PromptPay if the first attempt fails. If the money was charged but you didn't get a confirmation, contact us in the chat right away — we can verify and refund.
Can I change my payment method after booking?
If you haven't paid yet (your booking still says Reserved / Unpaid) you can simply tap Pay now again and use a different method.
Once a booking is paid, the payment method can't be changed — but you can request a refund and rebook with a different method if needed. See How do I get a refund? for timing and fees.
How much refund will I get if I cancel?
It depends on the bus company's fare rules for your specific ticket — some fares are fully refundable, some charge a flat fee, others a percentage that grows closer to departure.
You don't have to guess. On Manage my trip, tap Request refund — we'll show you the ticket price, the cancellation fee, and the exact amount you'll receive before anything is final. You can back out if the fee isn't acceptable.
Is there a deadline to request a refund?
Most carriers stop accepting refunds shortly before departure — often 1 to 24 hours, depending on the operator. After that, the ticket is considered used.
If you know you can't travel, request the refund as early as you can to maximise the amount you get back. Same-day requests usually carry the highest fee.
[Confirm exact deadlines with each carrier; this entry is a generic answer.]
What if my bus is delayed or cancelled by the operator?
Delayed: If your bus is running late, the carrier's counter at the station will keep you posted — there's nothing extra to do on your side, just wait for the new boarding call. Most short delays (under 30 min) are common and don't qualify for a refund.
Cancelled: If the operator cancels the trip — weather, mechanical, scheduling — you're entitled to a full refund with no fee, OR a free rebooking on the next available trip. We'll notify you by email and SMS as soon as the cancellation is confirmed.
Whichever way you go, send us your Book Code in the chat and we'll process it on our side too — that keeps your dashboard and email trail in sync with what the operator did.
Why is my refund taking so long?
Once we mark a refund as Verified on our side, the bus operator submits it to the payment processor. From there:
- Credit/debit card refunds typically appear in 3–7 business days, occasionally up to 14 days for international cards.
- PromptPay / wallet refunds are usually faster — 1–3 business days.
If it's been longer than 14 business days, send us the Book Code in the chat and we'll trace it with the operator.
Can I transfer my ticket to another person instead of refunding?
In most cases no — the passenger name on a paid Thai bus ticket can't be reassigned, because operators check the ID at boarding. The clean path is to refund and rebook in the new traveller's name.
A small number of operators allow a name change for a fee. If you're in that situation, send us a message with the Book Code and the new traveller's name — we'll check with the operator before any refund is processed.
Can I change the passenger name on my ticket?
Most operators don't allow a name change after payment — the ticket is tied to the ID shown at boarding. If the wrong name was entered, request a refund (the booking flow will show any fee) and rebook in the correct name.
If it's just a small spelling fix and the booking is still Unpaid, let us know in the chat — we may be able to update it before payment without re-booking.
Can I change the date or route after I've paid?
Yes — open Manage my trip, find your booking, and tap Change date. We'll show you the available trips for the new date, plus any fare difference. If the new fare is lower, the difference is refunded; if higher, you pay the gap.
Changing the route isn't supported as an edit — for a different from/to city, you'd refund the existing ticket and book the new one.
How do I upgrade my seat or change to a better bus type?
Upgrading after payment isn't directly supported. The path is to refund the existing ticket (subject to the carrier's fee) and book the higher class on the same trip.
If you haven't paid yet, just type change trip in the chat and pick the VIP / First Class / Sleeper option from the trip list.
Can I add extra baggage after booking?
Standard luggage allowance is included in the ticket — it varies by operator but generally 1 large bag in the hold + 1 carry-on.
Extra baggage usually isn't an add-on you can buy in advance. If you have an oversized item or extra bags, ask at the counter when you check in — most operators charge a small fee on the spot.
[Confirm exact luggage policy per carrier and refine this entry.]
Do I need to print my ticket?
No — showing the screen on your phone is enough at every Thai bus terminal we work with. Have the QR code or Book Code ready when you reach the counter.
If you'd prefer a paper copy, the Manage my trip page has a Print button (and a PDF download). Both produce a clean A5 document with the QR + all the details staff need.
My ticket shows a different time than I expected — which one is correct?
Your ticket usually shows two times — the trip departure (when the bus leaves) and the boarding time (when you must be at the gate). Boarding is sometimes 15–30 minutes earlier so the bus can leave on schedule.
Always plan around the boarding time, not the departure. If both fields are the same, treat the boarding time as the latest you can arrive. Aim for 15–30 min earlier still to clear the queue.
What documents do I need to bring for boarding?
Bring:
- Your ticket — the QR or Book Code on your phone (or printed)
- A photo ID matching the passenger name on the ticket — Thai national ID, or a passport for foreign travellers
- For cross-border trips, your passport with any required visa
Children usually need an ID too; under-7s often travel with a parent's ID. Check with the carrier if you're unsure.
Can children or infants travel for free?
Policies vary by carrier and seat type. Common patterns in Thailand:
- Infants (under 3) often travel free if held on a parent's lap, but don't get their own seat.
- Children (typically 3–11) usually pay a discounted child fare and get their own seat.
- Adults (12+) pay the full fare.
Pick the child's age range when booking and the price will adjust. [Confirm exact age bands and child fares with each carrier.]
Are there any age restrictions?
There's no maximum age for Thai bus travel, and unaccompanied minors are generally accepted from age 12+ on most routes — though some overnight or sleeper services prefer 15+.
If you're booking for an unaccompanied child or a passenger needing special assistance, message us in the chat with the Book Code and we'll confirm with the operator.
What happens if I miss my bus?
Missed buses are generally non-refundable — the seat was reserved for you and the bus has left.
A few operators offer a one-time same-day reschedule for a fee if seats are available on a later departure. Get to the operator's counter at the station as soon as you can and ask. The earlier you ask, the better your odds.
If the delay was caused by something on the operator's side (the platform changed and you weren't told, the boarding time was wrong), send us the Book Code in the chat and we'll dispute it.
Can I bring food or drinks on the bus?
Yes — most Thai bus operators allow snacks and bottled drinks in the cabin. Strong-smelling food and alcohol are usually discouraged.
Many longer routes also include a meal or rest stop along the way (often a coupon at a designated restaurant), and some VIP services hand out snacks and water on board.
Is there WiFi, toilet, or air-conditioning on the bus?
Most long-distance Thai buses have:
- Air-conditioning — yes, sometimes a bit chilly; bring a light layer.
- Toilet — typically yes on overnight and long-distance routes; less common on short city-to-city services.
- WiFi — varies by operator and route; not yet standard. Mobile data is a more reliable bet on Thai highways.
VIP and First Class services tend to have all three. The amenities list shows on the trip card before you book.
Are there power outlets or USB charging ports?
VIP and First Class buses usually have USB charging at every seat. Standard buses sometimes do, sometimes don't — bring a power bank if you can't risk a flat phone.
If charging is important to you, look for buses tagged VIP, First Class, or Sleeper on the trip list when booking.
Can I bring my pet?
Most Thai bus operators don't allow pets in the cabin or hold. A few accept small animals in carriers — call ahead or ask at the counter on the day. Service / guide animals are accepted in line with Thai accessibility rules.
[Confirm exact pet policy per carrier; this entry is a generic answer.]
How much luggage is allowed? What about extra bags?
Standard allowance is roughly 1 hold bag (up to ~20 kg) + 1 carry-on. Exact limits vary by operator — VIP and First Class often allow more.
Extra bags or oversized items (surfboards, bicycles, large boxes) are usually accepted for a small fee paid at the counter. Tell the staff at check-in and they'll weigh and tag it.
How do I know if my bus is on time?
We send you a reminder email about 16 hours and again about 2 hours before departure with the latest schedule info.
On the day, the most reliable check is the operator's counter at the station — they have the live position. If you have a question, just ask us in the chat with your Book Code; we can ping the operator's system on your behalf.
Can I track my bus in real time?
Live GPS tracking isn't available across all Thai operators yet. A few VIP and inter-province carriers expose live position; most don't.
For a status check on the day of travel, message us in the chat with your Book Code and we'll ping the operator. The terminal info screens are also a good source once you're at the station.
What should I do if the bus doesn't arrive?
If your bus is late by more than 15–20 minutes, head to the operator's counter at the station — they'll know if it's stuck in traffic, mechanical, or cancelled.
If the operator confirms a cancellation, you're entitled to a full refund. Send us your Book Code in the chat and we'll process it on our side too. If they say it's just delayed, sit tight — they'll call boarding when it arrives.
Is it safe to travel at night on Thai buses?
Generally yes — overnight buses are a popular and well-established way to cover long distances in Thailand. Most operators run with two drivers who swap on long routes for safety.
Common-sense tips: keep your valuables in your carry-on (not in the hold), bring a light layer for the air-con, and pick reputable VIP / First Class operators on routes longer than 8 hours — the seats recline more, the rest stops are better, and the driver standards tend to be higher.
Are VIP / First Class / Sleeper buses worth the extra money?
For trips longer than ~5 hours, most travellers say yes. What you get for the upgrade typically includes:
- Wider, deeper-reclining seats (sometimes flat-bed sleepers)
- Fewer rows = more legroom
- Snacks and water on board
- USB charging at every seat
- Stricter driver hours and quieter cabins
On short routes (1–3 hours) the price gap usually isn't worth it. Compare side by side on the trip list when booking.
I had a problem during my trip — how do I report it (and can I get compensation)?
Tell us in the chat — include your Book Code and a brief description of what happened (delay, comfort, driver, missed stop, lost item, etc.). We log every report and pass it to the operator's quality team.
On compensation: most Thai bus operators don't publish a formal compensation policy for delays or comfort issues outside of full cancellations. But when complaints stack up against a particular trip, operators do sometimes offer goodwill credits or rebooking discounts. We can't promise it, but we'll always raise it on your behalf.
Serious incidents (accident, theft, harassment, injury): report to the police first and get a report number, then send everything to us — we'll coordinate with the operator on the formal follow-up.
I left something on the bus — how can I recover it?
Act fast. Contact the operator's lost-and-found at the destination terminal as soon as you realise — items are usually held there, not at the origin.
Send us a message in the chat with your Book Code and a description of the item; we'll forward the lookup to the operator and share their lost-property number with you.
The seat number on my ticket was already taken — what now?
Show your ticket to the bus attendant or driver — your seat assignment overrides anyone sitting in the wrong place. They'll sort it out.
If for any reason you're moved to a worse seat (or denied your seat entirely), keep your ticket and let us know in the chat with the Book Code. We'll raise it with the operator.
The bus dropped me at a different location than promised
Operators occasionally use alternate drop-off points for traffic, weather, or accident reasons. If you ended up somewhere different from the Drop off on your ticket and it caused a problem (taxi cost, missed connection), tell us in the chat with the Book Code and we'll raise it with the operator.
The website / app is not working properly — what should I do?
Quick fixes that solve most issues:
- Hard reload — Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac).
- Clear the page cache — try an incognito / private window.
- Try a different browser — Chrome, Edge, Safari all work.
If it's still broken, screenshot what you're seeing and send it in the chat with a brief description. We'll route it to the engineering team.
Why can't I see my ticket in the chat anymore?
Chat history is per-browser, so it can disappear if you cleared cookies, switched device, or used a private window.
Your booking is still safe. Open Manage my trip and find it by:
- Booking code (`THSBSXR…`), or
- The email or phone you used at booking.
Your full ticket — including the QR code — will appear again.
How do I download or save my ticket as PDF?
Open Manage my trip, look up your booking, and tap the PDF button on the action row at the bottom. The browser will download or open a PDF copy of your ticket.
Alternatively, the Print button next to it opens your browser's print dialog — choose Save as PDF there for a clean A5 document. Same QR code, just on paper-shaped pages.
I'm traveling with a group — can I book adjacent seats?
Yes — when the seat map appears, pick all the seats you need in one go. Adjacent seats stay together as long as they're free at the time of booking.
Tip: book early. On popular routes the best pairs (window-aisle, front rows) go fast. If the seat map doesn't show two together, type change trip and check earlier or later departures with more availability.
Do you offer student / senior / monk discounts?
Discounts depend on the carrier:
- Monks — many Thai operators offer a discount or reserved section for ordained travellers; bring your monk ID.
- Students / Seniors — less common in Thailand than in some countries; some operators offer it on specific routes.
Discounts are usually applied at the counter at the station rather than online. Mention you'd like the discount when you check in and show the relevant ID.
[Confirm exact discount policies per carrier and refine this entry.]
Can I book a bus from Thailand to Cambodia / Laos / Malaysia?
Cross-border buses to neighbouring countries are run by a small number of operators on specific routes (Bangkok ↔ Siem Reap, Bangkok ↔ Vientiane, Hat Yai ↔ Penang, etc.). Search the route in the chat — if we have it, it'll appear in the trip list.
For cross-border travel:
- Bring your passport with at least 6 months validity.
- Check whether you need a visa — some neighbouring countries issue visas on arrival, others don't.
- Allow extra time at the border crossing — usually 1–2 hours.
What if I need to cancel because of a flight delay?
We can't change a carrier's standard refund policy, but we'll always try. Send us the Book Code in the chat as soon as you know about the delay (with a screenshot of the airline's delay notification, if you have it). Some operators offer goodwill rebooks in this kind of documented case.
Tip for next time: leave a bigger buffer between flight arrival and bus departure — at least 3 hours for domestic flights, 4+ for international with immigration.
I'm a foreigner — do I need my passport to board?
Yes — bring your passport to every trip. The name on your ticket must match the name on your passport, and Thai operators may check ID at boarding (especially on longer or overnight routes).
Make sure your passport has at least 6 months validity if you're crossing a border. For domestic Thai trips, validity isn't checked, but the passport itself should be in your bag.
Is Busaba safe and legitimate?
Yes. Busaba is a Thai bus-booking platform that aggregates real inventory from licensed operators across Thailand and the wider region. Bookings are confirmed directly with the operator, payment opens on a secure payment page after you confirm your booking, and the QR code on your ticket scans on the operator's own system at the counter.
If anything looks wrong — a price that seems too good, an operator you don't recognise, a request for payment outside the official booking flow — flag it in the chat and we'll investigate.
How do I know the bus company is reliable?
Busaba only works with licensed Thai bus operators. Each carrier shown in the trip list is registered with the Department of Land Transport (DLT) and meets the safety, insurance, and driver-hour rules.
On the trip list you can see the operator's name, vehicle type, and amenities. Bigger names like Nakhonchai Air, Sombat Tour, Roong Reuang, and Bus Express are well-established and have been operating for decades. New / smaller operators are also legitimate but you may know less about them — pick what fits your comfort level.
Why are some buses much cheaper than others?
Price differences usually reflect real differences in service:
- Seat type — Standard vs VIP vs First Class vs Sleeper. Better seats cost more.
- Number of stops — direct trips cost more than ones with many pickups.
- Bus age and amenities — newer buses with WiFi, charging, and snacks command a premium.
- Time of day — overnight and peak-hour departures are more expensive.
For long routes, paying a bit more for VIP / First Class is usually worth it — your back will thank you.
What insurance is included in my ticket?
All licensed Thai bus operators carry mandatory passenger insurance as a condition of their licence — every paid ticket automatically includes basic coverage for medical costs and personal injury in the event of an accident.
Exact amounts and the claim process are published by the carrier; if you need to make a claim, ask the operator's counter for their claims line and let us know in the chat — we can help you navigate the paperwork.
[Confirm exact insurance details per carrier and refine this entry.]
What time does the bus reach the boarding point at the บขส. terminal?
Go by the Boarding time printed on your ticket — that's when you need to be standing at the gate, not when the bus pulls in. The bus is usually at the platform a few minutes before that.
At บขส. (Transport Co.) terminals the platforms are numbered, and your platform is on your ticket. If it isn't shown yet, the operator's counter inside the terminal will tell you — the operator name is on your ticket. Plan to arrive 15–30 minutes early so you can find the platform and clear any queue.
Buses do sometimes reach the terminal late in heavy traffic. If nothing has arrived 30 minutes after your boarding time, ask at the operator's counter, and send us your Book Code in the chat so we can check with them.

How do I check my booking status? Is my reservation confirmed?
Open Manage my trip and enter your Book Code — it's in the confirmation email or SMS we sent when you booked.
You'll see the current status:
Reserved — the seat is held but not paid yet, and it expires if payment isn't completed in time. Pay from the same screen to confirm it.
Paid — you're confirmed. Your ticket, seat number, boarding time and platform are all on that screen.
Cancelled — the seat was released, either by you or because a Reserved booking expired.
If you can't find the booking, it's usually a different email address or phone number than the one you're searching with. Send us the email address or phone number you used in the chat and we'll look it up for you.

Where do I pick up or issue my ticket?
For most trips there is nothing to collect. The QR code in Manage my trip — on your phone or printed — is the ticket, and staff scan it at the gate.
Some operators still want you to exchange it for their own paper ticket at their counter inside the terminal before boarding. When that applies, it's noted on your ticket. The operator's name is on the ticket, and their counter is in the departure hall.
If you're not sure which applies to your trip, go to the operator's counter about 30 minutes before boarding and show them the QR code — that covers both cases. Keep your phone charged, or bring a printout if the battery is a worry.
Can I postpone my ticket to another date? What are the conditions?
Often yes. Open Manage my trip, find the booking, and tap Change date — we'll show the available departures and any fare difference. If the new fare is lower the difference comes back to you; if it's higher you pay the gap.
The conditions come from the bus operator, not from Busaba, so they vary by company: whether postponing is allowed at all, how close to departure you can still do it, and whether there's a fee. If Change date isn't offered for your booking, that operator doesn't allow it — your options are to refund the ticket and book the new date, or ask us in the chat with your Book Code and we'll check with them.
Once the bus has departed it is no longer a postponement — it's a missed bus, and those are generally non-refundable. Change the date before the departure time.
Can the bus wait for me? I'm running late
No — buses leave on schedule and the driver can't hold the departure. The timetable is shared with every other passenger on board, and at a busy terminal the platform is needed for the next departure.
If you're close by, go straight to the operator's counter in the terminal rather than the platform. They are the only ones who can tell the driver anything, and occasionally they can help if you arrive within a few minutes of boarding time. Calling us in the chat can't hold a bus — we don't control the vehicle.
If you do miss it: missed buses are generally non-refundable, but some operators offer a one-time same-day reschedule for a fee if a later departure has seats. Ask at their counter as soon as you can — the earlier you ask, the better your chances.
Can I get a tax invoice (ใบกำกับภาษี)?
Your Busaba confirmation and ticket are the record of what you paid, and for most passengers that is all they need for expenses.
A full ใบกำกับภาษี has to be issued by the company that actually carried you — the bus operator named on your ticket — so it isn't something that can be downloaded from the app. Send us the following in the chat and we'll request it from them for you:
- your Book Code
- the company name it should be issued to
- the tax ID (13 digits)
- the billing address
- the head office / branch it should show
Please allow a few working days, and ask before you travel where you can — some operators won't issue one long after the trip. If you only need proof of payment rather than a tax invoice, the confirmation email is enough.
(Book Code)
Can I get on or off part-way along the route?
Your ticket is valid for the pick-up and drop-off points printed on it, and that's what the fare and the seat were sold against.
Some routes do stop at points in between, but whether you may join or leave there is the bus operator's decision, not something Busaba can promise on their behalf. If you want to try, ask the operator's counter at the terminal before departure, or the attendant as you board — and have a backup plan, because the answer can be no. Flagging a bus down at the roadside is not a booking and the driver may pass you.
Getting off earlier than your ticket says doesn't entitle you to a refund of the unused part of the trip. If the bus set you down somewhere other than the drop-off point on your ticket, that's on the operator — send us your Book Code in the chat and we'll take it up with them.
Do you deliver parcels? Can I send a package on the bus?
No — Busaba sells bus tickets for passengers only. We don't handle parcels, and we can't book, track, trace or claim for one.
(Transport Co.) runs its own parcel service, separate from ticketing. To send something, take it to a บขส. parcel counter at the terminal, or contact บขส. directly — they'll quote the rate, tell you what may and may not be sent, and give you the tracking reference. Individual bus operators sometimes carry parcels on their own routes too; ask at their counter.
If you've already sent a parcel and want to know where it is, บขส. (or the operator who accepted it) is the one who can tell you — we have no visibility of it at all.
My ticket shows the wrong seat number
The seat printed on your ticket is the one the operator has assigned to you in their system, and it's the one that counts at boarding — even if you remember choosing a different one when you booked. Operators sometimes reassign seats when a vehicle is swapped for a different one.
Show the ticket to the attendant or driver and take the seat it names. If someone is already sitting there, show them your ticket — your assignment overrides anyone in the wrong place, and the attendant will sort it out.
If you paid extra for a specific seat or seat type and were given something worse, or you and the people you booked with were split up after booking adjacent seats, keep your ticket and send us the Book Code in the chat. We'll raise it with the operator.
What's the bus look like inside?
I don't have detailed interior photos or descriptions for Bangkok Bus Lines' specific bus model on this route. I'd recommend checking their website or calling the Nan Bus Terminal counter—they can show you photos or describe the seating, amenities (AC, WiFi, restrooms), and comfort level so you know what to expect.
Do you accept credit cards?
Pay by Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Thai QR (PromptPay), K PLUS, or cash at any 7-Eleven. Payment opens on a secure payment page after you confirm your booking.
How about if I am late for the bus?
If you arrive after the boarding time on your ticket, the bus may have already left — the driver won't wait. I'd suggest arriving 15–30 minutes before your boarding time to be safe. If you do miss the bus, contact the operator's counter or the station immediately to see if there's a later service you can switch to.
Gepäckbestimmung bei Nakhonchai Air?
I don't have Nakhonchai Air's specific luggage policy in my system. I recommend contacting the Nakhonchai Air directly to confirm baggage allowances, size limits, and any fees for extra luggage before your trip on December 8th. Please fill in the passenger details above to continue with your booking for 2 tickets to Chiang Mai.
